Frank Bertie has been an integral part of the electrical installation industry for over four decades. Initially starting out in the Scottish electrical contracting industry, Frank moved to London in the late eighties to begin specialising in inspection and testing.

As NAPIT Chief Technical Officer and Trade Association Chairman, Frank sits on a wide range of influential industry committees, including the BSI/IET Wiring Regulation Committee JPEL/64 and Sub Committee A, BSI Comittees, EAS Management Committee, Electrical Safety Roundtable and the Electrical Safety First Technical Committee, and his vast experience and technical knowledge of the electrical industry is second to none.

Frank represents NAPIT at events such as EXP and ELEX Tool Fair offering his expertise to all our members first-hand.

NAPIT Technical Development Engineer, Richard Townsend, is a technical adviser and writer for NAPIT. He writes and edits NAPIT’s publications as well as regular articles for The Competent Person Magazine, Richard represents NAPIT at events such as EXPO and ELEX Tool Fair offering his expertise to all our members first-hand.

With over 30 years’ experience in the electrical industry with extensive technical understanding of the electrical industry and an extensive knowledge of the Wiring Regulations.

Richard was previously Senior Electrical Engineer at the IET, Secretary to Panel A of JPEL 64 including author and editor of the 4th Edition of the IET’s Code of Practice for in-service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment. Richard previously worked for Sercos Leisure business as their Chief Electrical Engineer and Midlands Senior Technical Manager.
